Eligibility Standing

Eligibility Guidelines for Outgoing Program
The Office of Global Education will work with other offices on campus to check students’ standing at DKU and to ensure that they are in good standing with the University.
Academic Standing
  • As long as students are in good academic standing, there is no minimum GPA requirement for the Duke University and Duke Marine Lab programs.
  • According to DKU policy, in order to join other study abroad programs, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.7. (Other host universities or programs may have different minimum GPA requirements.)
  • A Student who is on academic probation and/or suspension may not qualify for enrollment. As of the date this Agreement is signed, any Student on academic probation represents and warrants that Student anticipates clearing their probationary status prior to enrollment. The Student also agrees that if Student fails to clear probationary status, is put on probationary status, or has additional academic issues prior to departure for study abroad, Student will not be eligible to participate.
Financial Standing
  • Students who have unpaid fees including tuition, housing, and other fees at DKU may be prevented from joining study abroad programs for the following semester.
  • Students who have not paid their tuition fee to DKU UG Bursar for the current semester may be prevented from registering for courses at Duke University or the Duke Marine Lab.
Behavior/Disciplinary Standing
  • A Student who is on disciplinary probation may not qualify for enrollment. As of the date this Agreement is signed, any Student on disciplinary probation represents and warrants that Student anticipates clearing their probationary status or receive written clearance from Student Affairs prior to enrollment. The Student also agrees that if Student fails to clear probationary status, is put on probationary status, or has additional disciplinary issues prior to departure for study abroad, Student will not be eligible to participate.
